"Breaking" news

Today when I was at home, I heard the most terrible noise! It sounded like something was scratching on the roof and then I heard a big boom sound. I look out the window and see this HUGE tree branch had fallen onto our house! Thankfully, it did not do much damage. It took out the gutter and some phone lines, but we are all ok! If it had been a few inches longer, it would have taken out Molly's room! So scary!!

First Day of School!

Tomorrow is the first day of school for MTSU! I am not really sure why this semester starts on a Saturday, but it does. When I was growing up, I always got really nervous and really anxious about the first day of school. I also remember taking pictures of the first day of school with our new clothes and my new backpack filled with lots of new school supplies (I love school supplies!).

My freshmen year of college, one of my roommates and I started a new tradition for the first day of school. I still remember my first night of college. After my parents left, I was alone in a dorm room with a stranger in the room connected to mine. I had only known Lodie for a few hours when we were both trying to make polite conversation before going to bed. After showers had been taken and pajamas were on, we said goodnight to prepare for a full day of Rush the next day. Lodie bursts into my room with her camera and says we need to take a picture to remember the first night of college! It was not the cutest picture ever, but it is one of my favorite memories! The next year, we took the same first day of school picture by the panda on the AOPi floor of Massey. This time I was already in bed and Lodie woke me up to take this picture. We did this same thing Junior year and Senior year as well. When I started back to school last year for Grad school, I took a picture on my cell phone and sent it to her (which now sounds really weird and creepy). So this year as I am on the eve of my first day of school, I am dedicating this post to Lodie! Here I am getting ready for my first day of school!! Thanks Lodie for a new tradition!

There's a fire burning on the dance floor (or in my dryer)

I think my dryer is broken.

As you can see it is pretty old, but it works great! This morning I was doing some laundry and I went to get my stuff out of the dryer and smoke came out. So my first thought is to get all my clothes out so they don't catch on fire. When I went to grab them, they were HOT!! I am pretty sure that my hands were close to burning. ha! I put them in my room and could smell a little bit of smoke from the other room. I know I am a little over-dramatic, but I was pretty sure that the fire alarm was going to go off! So I made sure it was off and kept the door open to air it out. I called my mom and together we decided it was going to be ok.

Later this afternoon I got home and needed to dry my other clothes that I had already washed this morning. Amy suggested that I clean out the lint thing (does it have a real name?). Great suggestion Amy. This was probably the cause of the small non-fire I experienced today! Wow is all I can say about this! I have lived here since April and pretty sure this is the first time it has been cleaned out. Yikes!
It is the size of my head!!

Zumba fun

I am on a big exercise kick right now. I am not in school yet so I have lots of extra time and am not as stressed so I really don't have an excuse not to work out! I left my Shred video in Knoxville when I was home last week so I have been doing other things to get my exercise. My new love is Zumba!

Zumba is a Latin inspired fitness program that incorporates body sculpting and dance moves like salsa, hip hop, rumba, and calypso. I like to explain it as Jazzercise meets 2009! It is the most fun exercise I have ever done! We do dances to songs by all my favorites like Miley, Britney, Michael Jackson, NKOTB, and PCD. I literally laugh the entire time I am working out. When I leave Zumba class I feel like I could be a back-up dancer in a music video! I absolutly love it!!

I was trying to put a video on here to show Zumba fun, but you can go here for more fun!

I would like to phone a friend

I think the TV show should be called, Who DOESN'T want to be a Millionaire! I mean, seriously, everyone could use a little more money! Apparently I like this show a lot more than I remember. Ever since it has come back on tv, I find myself using terms like, "I would like to phone a friend" or "I will ask the expert" or "Who wants to be a (fill in the blank)" in everyday conversations. This sounds even lamer as I type it out, but I really like this show! I get attached to their stories and of course I love the celebrities! And I must say that I feel a lot smarter than I did 10 years ago when this show came out!

So I just got back from a little trip to Knoxville which is always so much fun! I ate a lot, slept a lot, and had a great time. On my way home from lunch with Katie and Mark, I got a flat tire. Rain + flat tire + 2 girls in dresses = stress. I have to say that I am so thankful for AAA and it happening before I was headed back to Nashville. Katie even used the word "calm" to descibe me during this moment. I know, I am shocked too! Wish I had taken a picture with my camera and not my phone to put on here. It was an expereince.

When I got home from Knoxville I got to visit with Jamie! She flew into Nashville before her tour of Tennessee begins. She is home in Memphis for the weekend, and then headed to Knoxville for a wedding next weekend. I am SO glad I got to see Jamie! We had the best time at yummy Cheesecake Factory and catching up!

500 Days of Summer

I went to see 500 Days of Summer tonight and I have to say it was AWESOME!!! (And very appropriate that today was my last day of summer school so I actually have like 21 days of summer left). But this movie is great and I think you should go see it! But I feel that I should warn you about this movie. It is not a love story... but a story about love. And I have been singing "You Make My Dreams" by Hall and Oates ever since. Such a great night!

Here is the website if you want to check out the trailer. http://www.foxsearchlight.com/500daysofsummer/
